Very Rev. Glenn D. Parker, C.Ss.R

Initially raised in a Pentecostal Church, Glenn Parker became Catholic at age 13.  Volunteering as an altar server allowed him to witness the life of prayer and service of Redemptorist priests in his parish.  Following their example, he entered the seminary at 15 and was ordained a Redemptorist priest on May 25, 1985, at Mt. St. Alphonsus Seminary in Esopus, N.Y.

Parker is a member of and serves the Redemptorist Vice-Province of Richmond.  He most recently served as Pastor of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School in New Smyrna Beach and St. Gerard Catholic Mission Church in Edgewater.  He also serves as a Mission Priest, preaching missions and giving retreats throughout the U.S. and Caribbean. Parker has also served as Pastor or Parochial Vicar at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, Jacksonville, FL; and St. John the Evangelist Parish in Hapeville, GA.

Early in life, God entrusted Parker with the gift of praying for and healing the sick. This gift was manifested in his priestly ministry during his years serving in the Diocese of St. Augustine, FL.

Parker also serves on the Board of Consultants for the National Black Catholic Apostolate for Life.  In 2015, Parker was elected Vice Provincial of the Southern Vice Province of the Redemptorist. He was the First African American ever elected as Vice Provincial.
