Rev. Anthony Bozeman, S.S.J.

Philadelphia native Anthony Bozeman received a Catholic education at Our Mother of Sorrows, West Philadelphia Catholic High School, and LaSalle University.  After 16 years of military service (active and Air National Guard Reserve duty), Bozeman entered St. Charles Borromeo Seminary in Philadelphia and was ordained a priest on May 20, 2000.  In 2005, after serving as Parochial Vicar of Our Lady of Grace and Our Lady of Hope Churches, he sought release from the Archdiocese in 2005 to discern God’s call to a religious community. In June 2006, he made first promises with the Society of St Joseph of the Sacred Heart (The Josephite Community).  In October 2006, barely a year after Hurricane Katrina, he became pastor of St. Joan of Arc Church in New Orleans, LA. That same year, he was appointed chaplain of Xavier University Preparatory High School by the Archbishop. Since 2008, he has served as pastor of the then-newly created St. Raymond & St. Leo the Great Parish.

This past president of NBCCC is devoted to the increase and support of priestly vocations and is a much beloved mentor to the National Black Catholic Seminarians Association.  Known for his enthusiasm and reliability, Bozeman is highly sought out nationally for preaching, retreats and revivals.
